My baby granddaughter is scheduled to under go open heart surgery on September 17th to repair her Tetrology of Fallot heart defect. She is 6 months old. The same surgeon who repaired Sammy and Katarina's heart is fixing hers and this make me happy as he is an excellent surgeon and did a really good job on both of my kids. Thank you for your prayers for Veronica Lee.

Update 09-17-09
The surgery went great. It was only 4 1/2 hours long. A lot shorter then Sam's was 12 years ago. Her color looks fantastic and she is doing really well. They are talking about getting her off the vent as long as she continues to do so well. You know the site of the tubes and wires around her did not bother me this time. I guess I'm getting use to seeing such things now.
Thank you for all your prayers and any additional prayers for her recovery.
Update 09-18-09
They removed the vent last night and they are removing some of the drains and tubes today. She is awake and eating and watching cartoons. They expect to move out of the ICU this evening.

Veronica is doing much better. She is off oxygen and they took out the cath. She still have the feeding tube but she is doing much better. Thank you for all your prayers as they seem to be working.

Update 09-25-09
Thanks for all your prayers Ladies! Veronica was able to come home yesterday evening. She still has the feeding tube in but she is doing well. Unfortunately when my daughter-in-law was comeing home yesterday from the hospital with the baby she blew a tire getting onto the expressway. My husband and I had to go pick them up. We were unable to change her tire as one of the nuts would not come off. So we drove them to Indiana where my son met up with us to take them the rest of the way home. While we were trying to change the tire the baby got hungry and she actually took the bottle. She did not take the whole thing but it is a start, so hopefully she will be off th feeding tube in a few days.
Thanks again.

09-18-09 4:19 PM EST.
I need urgent prayers for my grand daughter. My son just called to tell me she had a two minute long seizure and they are taking her down stair to find out why. He was on his way back up to the hospital. My daughter-in-law witnessed the seizure and she is really upset right now.
Everything was going so well and now this. Please say some prayers for Veronica.
Thanks.
Mary Beth

I just got back from the hospital. They said she had a small brain bleed and that probably caused the seizure. It was actually more like five minutes long according to the nurse. I was there when they did an EEG on her and they did not observe any further seizure activity. They will be doing a Cat scan in the morning. They did not notice any neurological damage but put her on seizure medication (Capra sp) and told us she will probably be on it for about six months, but once the blood is reabsorbed she shouldn't have any more trouble but she should be on the medication for about 6 months.
She was doing better when I left. Thanks for your prayers.

They told me Veronica had to be re catherized as she isn't peeing and they had to put in a feeding tube because she can keep anything down. The Cat Scan did not show any additional bleeding so that was good.
It appears she will have a longer then expected stay in the ICU.
Your continued prayers are appreciated.

They put the feeding tube back in again as she is not tolerating her feeds right now. Did anyone else have problems getting there child to eat again after heart surgery? If so how long did it take to get them to take the bottle again.
